The Art of Storytelling
This is a hands-on Photography class that explores the possibilities of visual narrative as a way to find your own voice in relation to the art making process. This course will help you develop creative skills and will enable you to translate your vision into effective imagery. We will explore the foundations for an effective narrative & will discuss why it is important for all of us to tell our story. We will look at different artists who work effectively with narrative. Through collaboration, research, and dialogue, students will complete a portfolio at the end of the class (8-10 photographs). This is an intensive workshop in which we will discuss effective narratives. We will look at photographers who are very effective at telling narratives. We will have a field trip to Pier 24. We will be able to look at everyone’s work and have a critique as we make work for the class.
