Advanced Darkroom Printing Techniques


Further Black & White Printing Techniques This course is for students who wish to continue refining their darkroom practice. In this workshop we will explore the techniques used to make rich prints with a full range of expressive B&W tones and the archival stability to remain beautiful for years to come. Students will learn to use the tools needed to put their own creative stamp on their prints. In addition to the work in the darkroom, students will learn to select the best negatives and paper for their printing technique. At the conclusion of the workshop, students will be able to make an archival print that they will be proud to hang on any wall.

Prerequisite: Must have Intro to Darkroom Printing at HMPC or similar level B&W darkroom course. Students must understand basic use of contrast filters and test prints.

Equipment: ILFORD MG FB Glossy Fiber-Based B&W photo paper, 8 x 10. It is suggested that students can bring Medium or large format negatives.
