Architectural Abstractions, by Anand Josyula
These photographs are a select few from a body of work titled ‘Architectural Abstractions’. Drawing inspirations from the work of fiction – The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, and from the photographic works of Ezra Stoller and Balthazar Korab, Josyulaseeks torepresent the soul of the modern and post-modern built structure. Something that is elemental to the design, spatial form and function of a building. By abstracting away from the surrounding environment, balancing the negative space with content, and paying attention to concepts such as flow, rhythm, symmetry and balance, the photographic work aims to bring forth detail and design. Color is used subjectively to enhance visual aesthetics.
Anand Josyula is currently a volunteer at the Harvey Milk Photo Center, and is pursuing his Master of Fine Art degree in Photography at Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
